When: Wednesday, October 16, 2024, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PMWhere: Perrin Lecture Theatre Blizard Building 4 Newark St London E1 2AT
Speaker: Dr Clare Wenham (LSE) and Dr Mark Ecclestone-Turner (KCL)
Join us for an insightful discussion with Dr Clare Wenham, Associate Professor of Global Health Policy at LSE, and Dr Mark Ecclestone-Turner, Senior Lecturer in Global Health Law at King’s College London, as they explore the future of the Pandemic Agreement.
The COVID-19 pandemic revealed huge inequalities in global access to vaccines and medical technologies. The proposed Pandemic Agreement, led by the World Health Organization (WHO) in response to the lessons learned, focused on solidarity and equity—but it's also sparked intense debate in global health policy.
With negotiations stalled, key questions remain unanswered. Can the agreement fix COVID-19's moral failings? Will pharmaceutical companies prioritise global sharing over profits? Will it serve all societies or just national interests?
Host: Dr Jonathan Filippon (Queen Mary) Moderators: Dr Ben Verboom (Queen Mary) and Aida Hasan (Queen Mary)
