Professor Miri Rubin joined Melvyn Bragg on In Our Time (link is external) on BBC Radio 4 (link is external) to discuss “one of the most remarkable figures of the Middle Ages”, Hildegard of Bingen. Hildegard was the abbess of a Benedictine convent and experienced a series of mystical visions which she documented in her writings. She was a celebrated scholar, one of the first composers, and officially recognised as a saint by the Catholic Church in 2012.
