Who were the Nuns: A Prosopographical study of the English convents in exile 1600-1800 has been awarded the 2013 prize for the Best Digital Scholarship, New Media, and Art in gender and women’s studies by the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women (SSEMW) (link is external). The committee said they were ‘particularly impressed by the elegance of the website design, which provides a superb example of the ways in which a group of distinguished scholars can use technology in a collaborative fashion to make archival material accessible to scholarly communities.’ On winning the award, Dr Caroline Bowden (the Principal Investigator) said: ‘As project manager you hope to create a website which reflects and respects the work and scholarship of the researchers, the lives of the subjects of the research and encourages the interest of a broad range of users. I am delighted that a significant scholarly society thinks we have succeeded.’
