His study focuses on black global activism in post-war Britain. Through his selection of black activists, most of whom migrated to Britain from Africa and the Caribbean, Joe’s work combines themes of race, empire and international left-wing politics. Joe holds an MPhil in Modern European History from the University of Cambridge. He also holds a BA in History from the University of Leeds. Before joining Queen Mary, Joe worked for Imperial War Museums (IWM) in collections and curation.
