He read for his M.Phil. degree in Architecture (by research) at the Martin Centre for Architectural and Urban Studies, University of Cambridge, and for his Ph.D. at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture, at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich. He specialises in the long-nineteenth century Gothic Revival - having written his Ph.D. on the Buckler dynasty of Gothic Revival architects, antiquaries and topographical draughtsmen - and has published on British post-war architects associated with the Congrès internationaux d'architecture moderne. He is the 2020-21 Research Collections Fellow at the Paul Mellon Centre for British Art, Yale University. He lives in Peckham. Undergraduate Teaching British Architecture in London, 1827-the present.
