Discover how our alumni donations helped Queen Mary students deliver their workshops to dental schools around the UK
Following research into dental students’ levels of confidence when interacting with patients with suspected or reported mental health conditions, BDS Dentistry student Sathyam Sharma and his team developed their ‘Open Up’ intervention workshops, which were delivered alongside a trained psychologist to Queen Mary dental students and ten different schools across the country.
The team were supported by alumni donations through the Annual Fund, which helped them promote the workshops more widely and attend conferences to share the results of their research and network with other UK dental schools.
Sathyam commented “Not only has our project report been published but it has been a part of multiple dental schools’ curriculum. I hope that the success of our project will inspire other dental students to start their own projects like this.”
