[Managers of New Staff should visit the Manager's Guidance page.]
For other information you might find interesting as a new staff member - such as Queen Mary citizenship, staff networks, and other sources of development - you can explore the New Staff webpages.
Your line manager will arrange your local induction and tell you about any training you need specific to your role (such as Hazardous Substance Risk Assessment or Manual Lifting and Handling).
You can find out what is mandatory for you on your CPD Training home page (it may take a week after your start date before you can access it). You can see what is mandatory for other people on the Mandatory Training page.
Some training is mandatory depending on your role or tasks; for example, you’ll need to attend a Recruitment & Interview Selection session if you’re likely to be on shortlisting and interview panels.
New members of staff will need to book themselves onto the New Staff Welcome Event run by the Organisational and Professional Development team. These events are only for staff. They take place in interesting spaces on one of Queen Mary’s several campuses and are usually half a day in length.
You will meet many colleagues from across the university, hear about current areas of interest and development from Queen Mary staff teams, and meet the Principal, with a chance to raise questions about your time at Queen Mary. Whether you are involved in academic research, teaching, or supporting students and staff, the event is a great opportunity to find out more about the University's working culture and values, its role nationally in higher education, and its impact in the local community and across the world.
To book please visit CPD Training.
