FAQ Mandatory Training

Checking Mandatory Training completion for direct reports

A report is available for managers to see their direct-reports completion status on CPD Training:

  • Go to ‘Reports’ in the top menu 
  • Go to 'Mandatory Training (My Direct Reports only)'
  • You can re-order the view (e.g. by user's name, certification name)
  • You can export the report at the bottom of the page to view your whole team’s progress or filter for individual progress 

To view individual colleagues on CPD Training managers can use the above report or view completion in the Team option:

  • Go to ‘Team’ in the top menu
  • Go to ‘Records’ under the person’s name you want to review
  • Click on ‘Mandatory Training’ in the horizontal menu under [Name] CPD Record: All Courses

 

Checking Mandatory Training completion for all staff in reporting structure

A report is available for managers to see completion status of all in their reporting structure on CPD Training:

  • Go to ‘Reports’ in the top menu
  • Go to 'Mandatory Training (All in my reporting structure)'
  • You can re-order the view (e.g. by user's name, certification name)
  • You can export the report at the bottom of the page to view progress of all in your reporting structure or filter for individual progress

To access a report at organisational level on Power BI:

  • A report at organisational level (School/Institute/Directorate level) can be accessed within the QM People Training dashboard on Power BI. Access to this dashboard is permitted for staff with line management responsibility. based on the line management hierarchy in HR and managers will be able to review data for all their reports, not just direct reports.
  • Proxy access: Staff without line management responsibility can be granted access as proxy users for line managers, with their approval. This will give them access to individual and team completion info as well as that of all in reporting structure. If you would like to delegate reporting access to someone else in your team please raise a request with servicedesk@qmul.ac.uk.

Please note the following CPD Training system features:

  • In cases where the mandatory course doesn’t need to be repeated, the renewal date has been set 200/300 years in the future e.g. 2223, 2323.
  • When any training is due for renewal, the training will appear in the learner’s CPD Training Home Page, under current learning. If colleagues complete the training outside the “window for renewal”, the training completion will not be recorded on the system. You can see the “window for renewal” on the Mandatory Training tab on My CPD Record.
  • In the future a scheduled report will be available showing those due for renewal/refresh and their current status (e.g. Due, Certified, Failed to re-certify) which will be automatically sent to line-managers and nominated individuals.

Please find a list of mandatory training here. In addition, there may also be other mandatory training that you need to complete that is specific to your role. It is each colleague’s responsibility to ensure they are aware of the mandatory training required for their role and complete it before the end of their probation period.  By referring to their reporting dashboard, your manager will confirm with you that you have completed all required mandatory training in order to complete the probation process.  

You must complete all statutory and mandatory training before your probation can be considered complete.  Your line manager will not be able to confirm you in post until this has been achieved.  If you are having any issues with completion of mandatory training, please do raise this with your line manager in the first instance in order that they can try and support a resolution.

You can find a list of the central mandatory training here. However, there may be a local requirement within your School/department for additional mandatory training.

Tailored provision has been arranged for staff who don’t use a computer for their role. 

Line managers should decide which mandatory training contractors and temporary staff should complete. Here is a guide to support contractor or temporary mandatory training decisions

If you have been assigned a Mandatory Training item on your CPD Training dashboard that is not an expectation for your role, in line with the Mandatory Training table, you may request it be removed from your account settings. You can do this by raising an IT Service Desk Request, with the subject line: ‘Remove Mandatory Training item from my Certifications on CPD Training Platform’. Please ensure you also give details of which Mandatory Training Course you require removing and why. N.B. when this Mandatory Training item is removed from your account you and your line-manager will receive a confirmation notification.
