This policy sets out Queen Mary's approach to conferring honorary and visiting titles.
Both groups of titles are important means by which the university establishes relationships with people who are distinguishing themselves either in their own academic institutions or elsewhere in fields of activity where Queen Mary would benefit from association.
In this way Queen Mary enriches the breadth of its community and the breadth of people making contributions to its endeavours.
Honorary and visiting titles apply to different circumstances, the latter reflecting a person of equivalent standing in another academic institution, whereas the former reflects someone bringing skills and experience that may have been developed in a different environment.
