During this time she completed an MA in Medical Education. She also worked as a clinical lecturer in postgraduate medical education for 4 years. Her interest in GP recruitment and retention led to Dr Virji becoming the Postgraduate GP Training Programme Director for Health Education East of England, which she combined with a Clinical Director and Governing Body member role for Luton CCG – tackling the challenges of high patient demands and limited resources in primary care from the grass roots level. In 2021, when her term as a Clinical Director came to an end, Dr Virji joined Queen Mary’s University of London as a senior clinical lecturer for the Community-Based Medical Education Department and is also Deputy Head of Year 3 of the medical school.
