Time is a crucial ingredient of any and all intellectual labour: time to learn, digest, collaborate and share. In the modern university time is a scarce commodity. What aspects of scholarship are affected by the modern-day politics of academic time? How can we win time back? On what is quality time dependent – what models of academic labour, what resources such as space and security of position? And what are the different ways of relating to time in our own scholarship, particularly when there sometimes seems little middle ground between those who advocate slowing down and those who advocate speeding things up via systems of efficiency.
