Queen Mary University of London has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the university and gone on to pursue successful careers. Today, we are home to students from more than 162 different countries and over 45% of our student body come from outside of the UK. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.
We are one of the largest colleges of the University of London and one of the few with fully integrated teaching, research and residential facilities. Our setting provides our students with the benefits of both a large campus environment, and the countless academic and social opportunities provided by London.
There are currently 84 students from Bangladesh studying at Queen Mary who are enrolled on a range of degree programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Entry requirements
Undergraduate
Applicants taking A Levels or the International Baccalaureate can find the specific entry requirements using the undergraduate course finder.

Student with an External UK Foundation Certificate
- Queen Mary has established links with a number of external foundation programme in the UK. Kindly email the country manager for details on entry requirement for these programmes. You will need to provide the name of the foundation programme, intended degree programme, expected/achieved grade and previous academic grades (e.g., A/O levels, HSC etc).
Student with Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
- Students who have achieved 60%+ (CGPA 3.0) may be considered for entry onto the International Foundation Programme or the International Science and Engineering Foundation Programme.
- Excellent HSC students who have achieved 80%+ (CGPA 5.0) in the HSC may be considered for entry to 4 years undergraduate Programmes. Scores at this level are rare, and denote exceptional achievement and academic ability. For further information, please write to us at: Bangladesh@qmul.ac.uk.

Please note this information is only intended as a guide as the final decision on equivalency of overseas qualifications will be made by the Admissions Office at Queen Mary.
Foundation and Pre-Masters Courses
We offer a selection of Foundation and Pre Masters programmes to help international students and home students gain access to our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. More information can be found here.
Foundation is a pre-university course that is required by students who have a non-familiar high school certification such as HSC, or by students who are not meeting our standard undergraduate entry requirement. Foundation programmes will enable students to achieve the right academic level, as well as improve their English language and academic skills, to progress onto their chosen undergraduate degree programme.
International Science and Engineering Foundation Programme (ISEFP)
- Excellent HSC students who have achieved 80%+ (CGPA 5.0) in the HSC may be considered for entry to 4 years undergraduate Programmes. Scores at this level are rare, and denote exceptional achievement and academic ability. For further information, please write to us at: Bangladesh@qmul.ac.uk.
- IGCSE with a minimum of five B grades and above in relevant science subjects (must have minimum grade B in mathematics or biology and grade A in double science or grade B in triple science)
- AS or A levels must be in mathematics and science subjects and will be considered in conjunction with IGCSE or high school diploma.
- American High School Diploma with GPA 2.4 or above (Mathematics is desired)
- International Baccalaureate (IB): must have a minimum level 3 in mathematics and science subjects.
- All students must have, in their final year of study, mathematics and must have studied science subjects relevant to their chosen degree (engineering - math and physics, medical/health - biology and chemistry)
- English Proficiency: All students must provide an IELTS UKVI certificate with an overall score of 5.0 (with 5.0 in writing) or an equivalent UKBA recognised English proficiency certificate.
Students who intend to apply for undergraduate degrees at high ranking universities, or for competitive degrees such as Biomedical Sciences, are advised to achieve an English proficiency score of IELTS 6.0 with 6.0 in writing (or equivalent) before starting the International SEFP.

- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) 60%+ (CGPA 3.0) or over-all
- A-Levels CCD
- As-levels grade CCC in relevant subjects
- International Baccalaureate (IB): Higher Level subjects: marks of 4 or above Standard Level subjects: marks of 5 or above (marks of 4 may be acceptable in conjunction with HL subject marks of 4)
- American High School Diploma with GPA 2.4 or above
- IELTS UKVI 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each module (for progression onto Literature programmes, a score of 6.5 overall is required)

Pre-Masters Graduate Diplomas
The Pre-Masters Graduate Diplomas facilitate entry onto postgraduate degrees in a number of disciplines at QMUL and other leading UK institutions and are aimed at students who want to:
- switch disciplines (from undergraduate to postgraduate)
- enhance academic qualifications
- increase English level
We offer the following pre-masters graduate diplomas at Queen Mary:
- Graduate Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences (postgraduate international students)
- Graduate Diploma in Finance and Economics (postgraduate international students)

NOTE: Students who have done ACCA leading to a BSc in Applied Accounting degree can consider applying for Premaster programme after which they can progress on to MSc programme at Queen Mary. Entry Requirements: A full first degree at equivalent of at least a pass in a UK undergraduate degree with a pass in all final year modules
English Language Requirements: IELTS UKVI 6.0 or above (with 5.5 in each module), TOFEL iBT 80 Overall (19 in Writing/Listening, 20 in Reading and 22 in Speaking)
