Queen Mary has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Today, we are home to students from more than 100 different countries. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.

One of the largest colleges of the University of London and one of the few with fully integrated teaching, research and residential facilities, our setting gives you the benefits both of a large campus environment and of the countless academic and social opportunities of London.

There are currently 8 students from Syria at Queen Mary studying a range of courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels including Business & Management.

Entry requirements

Recognition of Syrian Qualifications for Undergraduate Entry

Academic:

  • Syrian students holding a General Secondary Certificate (al Shahâda al-Thânawiyya al-cÄmma or Baccalauréat) have to take a Foundation Course before admission to an undergraduate degree programme.  We require 75% overall and 75% in specific subjects for entry to our foundation programmes.
  • Students who have completed one or two years at a public university in Syria may be eligible for entry to our undergraduate degree programmes.
  • Students who have studied A Level or the International Baccalaureate (IB) are eligible for direct entry into undergraduate courses.

Any students living in Syria will not be able to make their application via UCAS. Please contact our admissions team at admissions@qmul.ac.uk to express an interest in applying for an undergraduate course at Queen Mary University of London for the 2022/2023 academic year.


Recognition of Syrian Qualifications for Graduate Entry

Masters degrees (all one year)

Academic:

The exact requirements will depend on the programme you are applying for but the following qualifications will be considered for entry onto a Queen Mary Masters degree:

  • Queen Mary considers applicants holding a good Bachelor (Honours) degree (al-Majistir) with a percentage of 70% or above.  Where our entry requirements are slightly lower, we will consider students with 60% or above.

Please note that all applications are considered on an individual basis and students may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if they have significant work experience relevant to the degree applied for.

Research degree (MPhil/PhD: 3 years)

Academic:

The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a Masters and Bachelors degree from a recognised Syrian university. However some departments may also accept students with an upper second class Bachelors degree only.
