Entry requirements

Undergraduate

Students who have completed the Senior High school (with Senior High School Diploma after 12 years) in Taiwanese education system will need to complete a foundation courses in order to enter onto the first year of a bachelor’s degree programme. For individual grade requirements for particular degree programmes please refer to the undergraduate study section of this website.

We also accept students from Taiwan with

• Three A Levels
• International Baccalaureate (IB)

Students whose grades do not meet our minimum requirements may, in some cases, be considered for entry onto our Foundation Programmes.

Information on the comparability of international qualifications can be found on the Entry Requirements section under the listings for each programme in the course finder. Please note this information is only intended as a guide as the final decision on equivalency of overseas qualifications will be made by the Admissions Office at Queen Mary.

English language requirements

"To start my career path in banking and finance, I have switched from Mathematics in undergraduate course to postgraduate course of Finance and Investment at Queen Mary University of London. Well designed programme allow me to discover the key issues quickly. With the practical group coursework, I have understood the theories behind the major econometric protocols. Besides, adequate support and assistance from colleagues has encouraged me to go further: not only sitting in lecture hall, I am able to discover knowledge through research, visits, and seminars organised by the department at Queen Mary.

I still remember the experience in one of our group assignments, in which we were assigned to help a real company raising their capital. Everyone was excited to the project and express their suggestions in the meetings. As we are from different background and cultures, arguments keep moving around and we are impressed by the ideas that have been mentioned, which this is one of the key aspects in the MSc programme: Study with different people with various backgrounds do inspires me to perceive same thing in different ways, and this lateral thinking skills cannot be provided through routine teaching. The programmes have the ability to provide such environment for students, and I would suggest Queen Mary to people who are willing to receive inspirations.

Living in the global financial centre – London, is probably the first move for most finance people. More jobs available means high chance towards success, therefore staying in London is suitable for me. However, its attractiveness is not only limited in dollar signs, the great thing about London is its culture. With the honour of 'the most globalised city', you could see cultures interact with each others. From the best Dim Sum in Hong Kong to the finest food in Italy, the 'pub culture' and Bonfire night in England, all of them can be found here. With London and Queen Mary, I see pleasure, knowledge, and a bright future."

International Business Law

"I took my bachelor degree in Financial and Economic Law at Fu-Jen Catholic University (FJU) in June 2005. I then worked as a maritime legal specialist as a Taiwanese representative of an internationalised British company for approximately two years. I chose Queen Mary because of its well-known reputation all over the world and its educational efforts being highly recognised by many great academic institutions. The School of law is located in the centre of Legal London where you can get easy access to one of the best law libraries, IALS and public and private sources. The main campus is in Mile End, which is about 10 minutes to central London, and is all-round and fully equipped with dormitories, leisure centres, and a lovely canal. We all enjoy the not-too-crowded Mile End campus after school and the simultaneous advantage – cheaper living expenses! I am enjoying the courses very much. Queen Mary provides a very wild range of courses for student to choose. In addition, the teaching fellows, some of them are practitioners, whilst others are senior lecturers, are so active in helping us do research."
