Queen Mary University of London has a long history of welcoming students from around the world. Over the years, many thousands of international students have graduated from the university and gone on to pursue successful careers. Today, we are home to students from more than 162 different countries and over 45% of our student body come from outside of the UK. This diversity contributes to a lively and welcoming community which should make you feel comfortable and at home.
We are one of the largest colleges of the University of London and one of the few with fully integrated teaching, research and residential facilities. Our setting provides our students with the benefits of both a large campus environment, and the countless academic and social opportunities provided by London.
US Students should be aware that there are some very marked differences between UK and US education systems which includes higher education. When considering studying in the UK, it can be helpful to think about applying to the degree itself and not just the university.
Undergraduate degrees tend to be three years long, but can be four years if you choose to study abroad. Each degree programme will have individual entry requirements, so there is no general entry requirement for the university as a whole. As applications are made to the degree programme, your will begin studying your subject right away and there will not be general education courses or electives outside your primary areas of study. Transferring between universities or degree is very uncommon so it is important to ensure that you have carefully considered and researched the programmes you apply for.
It is also important to note that in the United Kingdom qualifying Medical and Law degrees are taught at undergraduate level.
Queen Mary University of London does not have general entry requirements; each degree programme will have their own entry criteria. Entry requirements for each course can be found on the coursefinder and please use the table below to see the equivalent score for US students. Please note that these are to be used as a guide and that offers may vary; some programmes will have required subjects as listed in the coursefinder. Please see below for links to the School of Medicine and Dentistry, the School of Law and the School of Economics and Finance.
