Tuition fees - Academic year 2025/2026

Standard entry routes:

Full-year: £23,200 

Semester one (Autumn): £11,600 

Semester two (Spring): £11,600

Please note that the following routes are applicable only to those applying to us via bespoke partnerships:

One Module (Spring and Autumn) for Part-Time Students: £2,900

Two Modules (Spring and Autumn) for Part-Time Students: £5,800

Three Modules (Spring and Autumn): £8,700

You must pay your tuition fees before you enrol on your programme. Students coming to study with us through a student exchange agreement are exempt from paying tuition fees.

Application Fees & Deposits 

Queen Mary does not charge an application fee for our study abroad programme, nor do we require a deposit fee or any sort of advance tuition payment to commit to the programme or secure a place after accepting your admission offer.

Residential Fees   

Eligible students can apply for campus housing, if desired.  Housing allocations and offers are made online, applicants will need to accept the offer by the stated deadline and pay an advance residential fee payment to secure the room.  

We understand that some students may not have their plans fully solidified at the time that a commitment to housing is required, and therefore may feel anxious to make the advance residential fee payment in case their plans change prior to arrival. As our campus housing is extremely popular, we recommend that even students who are undecided about whether they will ultimately attend our study abroad programme accept the housing offer by the stated housing acceptance deadline, as they can typically receive a refund of their advanced residential fee if their plans change prior to arrival to our campus. To calculate total residential fees, Study Abroad and Exchange Students (Associates) will have the following minimum contracts applied:   

The minimum contract for 1st semester (autumn) Associates will be 15 weeks.  

The minimum contract for 2nd semester (spring) Associates will be 20.5 weeks. 

Please note that residential costs with a partner provider will be higher than those charged by Queen Mary, full details of all costs will be sent with the housing offer. 

Withdrawal Fees 

Study Abroad and Exchange Students fall under the Queen Mary Tuition Fee Regulations.  

Below are the Queen Mary policies regarding programme withdrawal. Please note that your home institution likely has their own withdrawal fees, policies, and deadlines. Please be mindful of this if you are considering withdrawal at any point.  

Prior to arrival to our London campus: 

• Tuition: students who notify us of their withdrawal in writing to study-abroad@qmul.ac.uk will not be charged for programme tuition. 
• Campus Housing: You may cancel the licence agreement up to 2 working days (working days are deemed to be Mondays to Fridays) after the date you accept the offer online. In this case you will be refunded the deposit in full (minus an administration fee of £30 inclusive of VAT for the processing of the refund). This condition does not apply if: you have had ‘face to face’ contact with a member of the Housing Services team (prior to signing the licence) the licence agreement commencement date has begun, you have collected the keys, or stayed overnight in the accommodation. After arrival to our London campus: 

• Tuition: students who enrol at Queen Mary and withdraw after attending classes/modules will be charged the full tuition cost. Except if withdrawal is due to certain exceptional circumstances as outlined in the Queen Mary tuition fee regulations. 

• Campus Housing: if a student signs a residential license agreement to live in Queen Mary campus housing (or with a partner accommodation provider) and subsequently wishes to cancel, some or all the total residential fee may be charged for the period from the start date of the license agreement until the room is re-let.  Once a replacement resident is found, the withdrawing student will be charged the daily residential fee for the period the room was empty, plus a £30.00 administrative fee.  Comprehensive information on residential fees, withdrawals and cancellations can be found at Residential Fee Payments. Financing your studies 

If you are in receipt of funding from your home country and/or your home institution, please consult your funding body and/or your home institution for information about transferring this funding to your study abroad programme - please note this is not always possible, and it outside of Queen Mary’s authority.  

Scholarships 

Queen Mary does not offer funding for our study abroad programme. However, there are several external funding opportunities for students considering studying abroad at Queen Mary: 

• Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarships 
  These scholarships are sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State and are administered by the Institute of International Education. The award is for up to $5,000 for semester or academic year programmes. 
• Butex Scholarships 
  The Scholarship is open to all undergraduate students currently registered at an institution in the USA or Canada. To be eligible to apply you must have been offered a place as a study abroad or exchange student in a UK university that is a member of BUTEX (British Transatlantic Exchange Association - Queen Mary is a member). The value of each scholarship is £500 and it will be paid to the winners once they have arrived and registered at their host university. 
• Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships 
  Rotary scholarships include the Academic-Year Ambassadorial Scholarship, which provides funding for one academic year of study in another country. This award is intended to help cover round-trip transport, tuition, fees, room and board expenses, and some educational supplies up to US$25,000 or its equivalent. 
• IIE-Study Abroad Funding 
  This is a searchable resource with a database of study abroad scholarships, fellowships and grants including Study Abroad Travel Grants for US students. 

Please note that any loan or funding is undertaken at your own risk and Queen Mary cannot be held responsible for any loss. We highly encourage speaking with your home institution study abroad office and/or financial aid and bursaries office, as they can help point you in the direction of other scholarships, loans, grants, or other types of funding opportunities that may exist for you.
