About 

One of the largest single-campus universities in the USA, the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) is a major centre for research. Faculty staff include Nobel, Pulitzer and Wolf prize winners, while sports, sororities and fraternities play large roles in campus life.

Location

The campus is located in the centre of Austin but is its own city with museums, 100,119 seater American football stadium, multipurpose sports arena, indoor and outdoor pools.

The city is situated on the banks of the Colorado River in Central Texas. This part of Texas is also known as the Hill Country and is characterised by lakes and streams, making it a beautiful place to live and study. Austin is known for its vibrant cultural scene including art exhibitions and its numerous local festivals.

Austin’s central location makes it a perfect base to explore the rest of Texas and the neighbouring states.

Accommodation

Students typically live in an on-campus residence hall or dormitory, a private dormitory, cooperative house or university apartment. Students are responsible for making their own housing arrangements. Students are advised to begin researching and arranging their accommodation once they know they will be attending UT as an exchange student.

Support Services

UT Austin's University Health Services have many avenues of support for students, depending on their needs.

Students can access expert support and a wealth of resources at UT Austin's Counseling and Mental Health Center. Support available includes wide-ranging well-being resources, workshops, counseling, access to technology platforms/apps, and immediate assistance for students in crisis. The Longhorn Wellness Center is also an excellent resource for support, activities, and tools.

Students with diagnosed special educational needs and/or disabilities can receive support from UT Austin's Disability and Access service. Information on how to register and required documenation can be found here.
