About
The University of Miami, which was founded in 1925, is a private research university located south of the city of Miami in Florida, US.
The main campus is in Coral Gables, south of Miami, and includes a theatre, arboretum and architecture centre. A large pool named “Lake Osceola” with a large fountain in the centre of the main campus serves as a focal point for the university.
Location
Located in Southern Florida, the University of Miami has an ideal location for students who love the outdoors. With popular spots like South Beach, the Florida Keys and Everglades National Park nearby, students have plenty of opportunities for water sports, hiking and sunbathing. Downtown Miami, also near to the school, is a thriving sports and cultural centre.

Restrictions
This opportunity is not available to Queen Mary students studying Business, Economics, Russian or Linguistics. Special restrictions apply to courses within the College of Engineering and Miami Herbert Business School. Neuroscience classes may not be available to exchange students due to limited space. Moreover, students cannot take more than two courses per Faculty (subject). For example, a student if a student is enrolled in MKT 100 and MKT 200, the student cannot enroll in a Third MKT course.

Exchange students may not register for courses in the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, or School of Law; School of Music courses are limited to those listed under MNM “for non-music majors only”.
Course Restrictions
Students cannot enroll in Music performance, Medical School, or Law School courses. Students coming on the undergraduate exchange are also not allowed to take 600-level classes and can only enroll in 500-level classes with special permission of the instructor and department. Credits
You must stay enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits throughout the semester. Most courses are 3 credits each and students usually take 4 – 6 courses a semester.

Accommodation
On-Campus residences will not be able to accommodate any incoming exchange students. Students need to seriously research and consider options for off-campus accommodations. Students will be able to work with UM’s Housing and Residential Life Department to secure housing accommodation.
