Making IT Procurement Secure

To ensure cost-effective and secure IT purchasing, the University requires all IT items to be purchased through IT Services. This helps prevent duplication, enhances cybersecurity, ensures effective data management, and leverages the benefits of our strategic supplier partnerships, such as extended warranties and better support.

Why Purchase Through IT Services?

Peripherals

Wires, Headphones, Phone Cases, Batteries (such as batteries for laptops)*, Computer Tools, Security Screens, Anti-Glare Screens, USB Drives, Dell-compatible peripherals, Apple-compatible peripherals, keyboards, mice, external hard drives.

Monitors

Includes secondary screens and hub monitors (note: hub monitors have replaced docking stations).

Software and Applications

All software and platform subscriptions, including accessibility and free software/applications (any software/platform subscription requires approval by Information Security).

Storage

All storage devices: USB sticks, hard drives, NAS boxes, SD cards and cloud storage services (requires approval by Information Security).

What can be purchased without ITS support? 

ITS do not help with the purchase of the following types of equipment. Individuals and Departments can purchase these separately. 

  • TV Screens 
  • * Standard Batteries such as AA, AAA 
  • Cameras and Video Cameras 
  • Computer Consoles and games 
  • Microscopes
