Queen Mary’s QM-Personal Wi-Fi is available to our students who live in university-managed Halls of Residences. It provides connectivity for devices, which remain in your Halls of Residences and are unable to connect to the main university Wi-Fi network, eduroam. Examples of these include:
While eduroam remains the default for connecting your phone, laptop, and tablet on campus, QM-Personal is ideal for smart devices like gaming systems, smart TVs, and speakers within your residence. It’s secure, easy to set up, and gives you the flexibility to connect up to 20 devices, seamlessly.
Please use the following link to connect to QM-Personal.
The first time you log into QM-Personal with your university credentials will, simultaneously, create a unique Wifi ‘Passphrase’. This means that devices connected to QM-Personal, using your unique passphrase, can connect to the internet and each other but are hidden and protected from all other devices using the QM-Personal WiFi service.
Your passphrase will allow you to connect up to 20 devices and is valid for 11 months. You can log in to the QM-Personal portal at any time to either remind yourself of your existing passphrase, reset your passphrase, or connect a camera-enabled device to QM-Personal using the displayed QR code.
Please remember that when you reset your passphrase, you have the option of immediately deleting your old passphrase. Alternatively, you can run old and new passphrases in parallel for 24 hours, while your devices update automatically with the new passphrase. You will be emailed a copy of your personal passphrase whenever you set or reset it. You can also email your existing passphrase to yourself at any time via the portal.
