Case Study

Mrs B arrived in the UK on a spouse visa in December 2014. She had been married to her partner for 1 year, having married abroad and waited to obtain the relevant visa before travelling to the UK. Following her arrival, Mrs B’s partner became controlling and abusive. One two occasions there had been instances of domestic violence which were not reported to the police. Mrs B wanted advice on what her options were if she were to leave her partner and whether she could obtain indefinite leave to remain in the UK. We advised her on the relevant application she could make to stay in the UK and the types of evidence she would need to provide in order to have the best chance of succeeding with the application. Mrs B said she found the advisers very comforting and felt reassured by the advice provided.
