One Hundred Years of ICC Arbitration: How the Past Informs the Present
The speakers – academics and practitioners in the field of international arbitration – shared insights into the history and sociology of international arbitration, based on original archival material collected at the International Chamber of Commerce and its Court of Arbitration (including unpublished arbitral awards from the 1920s onward). They explained how the past informs the present and future of international arbitration.
Speakers:
Florian Grisel is a Research Fellow at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique and the University of Oxford. His research examines the emergence of law beyond the state. He is a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, Columbia University (Rachel L. Spear Fellow), Yale Law School (Oscar Cox Fellow) and Université Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne. Florian is listed on the Legal 500’s Arbitration Powerlist and as a ‘Future Leader in International Arbitration’ by Who’s Who Legal.
Mikaël Schinazi is an associate at Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes and a visiting lecturer at Sciences Po Law School, Paris. A member of the New York and Paris Bars, he holds a BA magna cum laude with highest honours from Harvard University, an LLB from the University of Cambridge (John Eliot Scholar), an LLM from Columbia Law School (Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar), and a PhD in law from the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). His dissertation, which examined the modern history and evolution of international commercial arbitration, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2021.
