The Centre for Law and Society in a Global Context warmly invites QMUL graduate students on the PhD and LLM programmes to a one-off workshop for graduate students led by our new Global Law Professor, Hans Lindahl.
Professor Lindahl will conduct a workshop on his Julius Stone address, “Inside and Outside Global Law”.
In order to register, and to receive a copy of the paper, please email Isobel Roele (i.roele@qmul.ac.uk). Places are limited.
Globalizations take place as the globalization of inclusion and exclusion. Is a globalizing legal order possible that could include without excluding? If not, and such is my thesis, how are legal orders structured, such that, even if we can now speak of law beyond state borders, no emergent global legal order can include without excluding? And is an authoritative politics of boundaries possible that neither postulates the possibility of realizing an all-inclusive global legal order nor accepts resignation or paralysis in the face of the globalization of inclusion and exclusion?
