We are very proud to present our EU Tax Guest lecture that takes place on 7 February. Paul Farmer is going to discuss and provide an insight into the development of the concept of discrimination in European Court of Justice and UK case law on direct taxation.

In 2014 the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London, is hosting a series of guest lectures by leading EU and International Taxation experts. These inspirational speakers provide an insight into the latest developments in tax law with particular emphasis on what is happening in practice. Our goal is to create an environment for an interactive and stimulating debate between the lecturers and attendees.

The Speaker

Paul Farmer is a Barrister and partner of Joseph Hage Aaronson LLP. Paul entered practice in 2002 with a broad background in European law and international tax law after holding senior positions at the European Court of Justice (Chambers of Advocate General Sir Francis Jacobs) and European Commission (Head of Direct Taxation). Paul’s practice focuses mainly on contentious matters and he has broad experience of litigation in the UK courts at all levels and in the European Court of Justice.
