The UN defines sustainability as ‘meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.’ What does this mean in fashion? What are our fashion needs? What are our fashion needs in the future? Sustainability is a crucial and urgent discussion in fashion. It is part of the discussions around fashion’s impact on the environment, labour practices and conditions, textile innovation and waste, retail and resale, advertising and influencers, and more. Bringing diverse expertise from textile innovation through to cooperative retail spaces, this Forum assembles a panel of brands, consultants, legal practitioners and researchers, all working in sustainability in fashion, to discuss these urgent issues.
