What role do designs play in the overall IP strategy in the video game sector? Our next event, appropriately titled Design Intelligence, will explore how and why registered Community designs are an important part of the intellectual property toolbox. Although the validity of virtual designs has not yet been tested before courts, registered designs adequately address some of the issues faced by the industry, such as game cloning.
As part of the advance access provision, for the 4.2 issue, we selected ‘Registered Community designs in the video game industry: a neglected yet potent tool’ by Emmanuelle Sarlangue. The article is available to read online.
The pre-publication event will be held on the 9 December, 5pm UK time, as a Zoom webinar. Our design expert panel will include the author, Emmanuelle Sarlangue (Allen & Overy, France), Rosie Burbidge (Partner at Gunnercooke, UK) and will be hosted by Dr Michaela MacDonald (Queen Mary).
Please register and you will be sent a Zoom link to access the event the day before it takes place. You will notice the option to share your comments, questions, and thoughts about the article with the panel, which we will address during the webinar.
