Speaker: Professor Gustavo Ghidini : Professor Emeritus, University of Milan; Senior Professor of Intellectual Property and Competition Law, LUISS University, Rome; Senior Partner of ‘Ghidini Girino & Associati”, Law Offices in Milan and Rome
Chair: Dr Apostolos Chronopoulos, QMIPRI
Professor Ghidini’s lecture is a tour de force exploration of the combative relation between intellectual property and competition laws. He locates the subject of this heated discourse but argues that perhaps we need to focus on the essentially homogenous ethos of the two laws. After all, the fundamental terms and concepts of the two disciplines belong to the same lingua franca. His exploration of dissenters and compromisers - via law and juris-policy approaches - attempts to reconstruct for us a synthetic and more competition-favoring reconstruction of the age old narrative of the interaction of intellectual property and competition doctrines.
