Dr Ruth Fletcher is quoted in an article in the Irish Examiner on the UN Human Rights Committee’s (UNHRC) hearing into Ireland’s observance of human rights. Dr Fletcher, a senior lecturer in medical law and co-author of the Doctors for Choice submission to the UNHRC, acknowledged that repealing “the draconian” Article 40.3.3 of the Constitution, relating to the right to life of an unborn child and its mother, may be too difficult to do.
