Christopher Millard, a partner in the Technology Media and Telecommunications Group at Law firm Linklaters, and head of the firm’s global privacy practice, has been appointed to a new Chair of Privacy and Information Law at Queen Mary, University of London from September 2008.
Christopher has 25 years experience in the technology and communications law fields, and has led many multi-jurisdictional information governance and data protection compliance projects. He has a long association with Queen Mary where he has been teaching on a visiting basis since 1986 and is currently a Visiting Professor. He has taught on LLM courses in Information Technology Law, Telecommunications Law and Internet Law at the School of Law’s Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS).
Professor Janet Dine, Director of the CCLS said: “Christopher Millard has been recognised internationally as a leading practitioner in his field for many years, and has made a significant contribution to the work and reputation of CCLS in the field of computer and communications law, where we are acknowledged as world-leading. We are delighted that he will be joining us as Professor of Privacy and Information Law in September.”
Christopher Millard commented: “Privacy and information law are currently undergoing rapid change and that makes this an exciting time to be moving into this academic role. In particular, innovative thinking is needed to develop new frameworks for privacy regulation and information governance. I consider it a privilege to be joining the distinguished faculty team in the computer and communications law field at Queen Mary, University of London.”
