Queen Mary Law PhD student organises 'House of Lords Select Committee on the Constitution' seminar

Jack Simson Caird, a PhD student at Queen Mary, University of London, organised the United Kingdom Constitution Law Group (UKCLG) Seminar on the House of Lords Select Committee on the Constitution. The seminar took place on 25 January 2012 in the House of Lords. The speakers were Baroness Jay of Paddington, the current Chairman of the Committee, Lord Norton of Louth, a current member and former Chairman of the Committee, and Professor Dawn Oliver of University College London. Sebastian Payne, the co-convenor of the UKCLG, chaired the seminar. The subjects covered included: the history of the Committee, its current work on the Coalition's legislative programme and the place of the Committee in the United Kingdom's Constitution.

Commenting on the seminar, Jack Simson Caird said: "It was great that so many people who are involved with the committee attended the event."

Jack Simson Caird is a member of the UKCLG and his PhD research is in the area of UK constitutional law.
