Undergraduate law students across the globe have the chance to win free travel and accommodation to attend Queen Mary’s Legal Theory and Legal History Conference in November 2013.
The essay competition invites all students currently enrolled in their first law degree (undergraduate LLB and Juris Doctor) to submit an essay on the theme ‘Authority in a Transnational Age’. The prize for the winning student is a return economy fare from their home institution to London for an international conference on the theme 'Authority in a Transnational Age' to be held on 8 and 9 November 2013. The prize also includes accommodation for four nights, free entry to the conference and the possibility of presenting the essay at The School of Law, Queen Mary, University of London before the conference.
The ‘Authority in a Transnational Age’ Conference is hosted by the Legal Theory and Legal History Research Group at Queen Mary and has been made possible by generous funding from the Modern Law Review.
Dr Maksymilian Del Mar, co-convenor of the Legal Theory and Legal History Group said: "The emergence, at the transnational level, of new forms of regulation, and a variety of more or less formalised bodies exercising authority, has raised serious problems for theories of law based on the state. This essay competition is an opportunity not only to articulate your views and help shape the future of legal theory; it is also an opportunity to become part of a community of scholars, working at the highest level and at the cutting edge of scholarship about law."
