The Centre for Law and Society in a Global Context (CLSGC) at the School of Law welcomes Professor Christopher Tomlins as Distinguished Visiting Fellow in 2013-14. Professor Tomlins is Chancellor’s Professor of Law at University of California, Irvine, Affiliated Research Professor with The American Bar Foundation, Chicago, and from July 2014, Professor at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
Professor Tomlins will be involved in three events in May 2014, organised by the School of History and Department of Law at Queen Mary. These include a Seminar on the Methodology of Legal History, organised in association with the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies on 13 May, a Seminar for Doctoral Students on 19 May and a Lecture on the topic ‘Debt, Death and Redemption: Toward a Soterial-Legal History of the Turner Rebellion’ on 22 May.
