LLM in Immigration Law offers internship opportunities for specialism students

The LLM in Immigration Law programme, run by School of Law at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), is currently expanding its internship portfolio to offer students within the specialism of immigration and refugee law and policy a range of opportunities to enrich their academic experience with practical placements and volunteership options to help them transition to a professional career in the field. The internships below are reserved to specialism students and are designed to attract a variety of candidates with different profiles, from those wishing to join the civil service and work in immigration and asylum from a governmental perspective, to those willing to enter the profession as lawyers, or to defend migrants’ rights from non-governmental organisations.

UK House of Lords – EU Select Committee

One place shadowing experience with the EU Justice & Home Affairs Sub-Committee - four weeks, eight hours per week, during Term 2.

Kingsley Napley LLP

Two places for an internship experience at one of the top solicitors firms in the UK dealing with immigration law - three weeks, full time, after submission of LLM dissertation in August.

European Council on Refugees & Exiles (ECRE)

Five places (flexible hours, during Terms 2-3):

International Refugee Rights Initiative (IRRI)

  • Open number of places (flexible hours, throughout the year), with flexible arrangements, including options for on-site and on-line internships
  • Contribution to Rights in Exile Programme.
