Professor Penny Green discusses why the Pope failed to mention the Rohingya

Published:

Penny Green, Professor of Law and Globalisation and Director of the International State Crime Initiative (ISCI) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), speaks to the Monocle to discuss why the Pope failed to mention the ethnically cleansed Rohingya minority when visiting Myanmar. She said: “What we saw with the Pope’s visit was that he refused to use the term Rohingya as has been discussed. But the fact that he couldn’t even mention them by name is acquiescing and, is basically acknowledging the identity denial of the Rohingya.” Listen to the full interview (Item starts at 15m20secs).
