Thomas MacManus, a researcher with International State Crime Initiative at Queen Mary, was quoted in an article about the Rohingyas facing genocide. He said: "The Rohingya are undoubtedly facing genocide and we have been warning governments of this fact since 2014. The international community appears to be avoiding using the term 'genocide' in public in order to avoid the legal obligations to prevent it under the Genocide Treaty."
