Jessica Shurson (right) has won this year's edition of QMUL Postgraduate Essay Competition on Asylum and Migration Law with a piece entitled: 'Does membership in a terrorist organisation justify exclusion under Article 1F(c) of the Refugee Convention?'.
Mette Grumløse was the runner up with an essay on ''War and refugees: Can armed conflict amount to persecution within the meaning of article 1(A)(2) of the 1951 Convention on the Status of Refugees and the 1967 Additional Protocol?'

The winner will attend the prestigious Annual Conference of the Refugee Law Initiative: Refugee Protection in a Hostile World, and will present her research as part of a panel of experts on 18-19 July 2018. The LLM in Immigration Law programme of Queen Mary University of London is proud to cover related costs to facilitate her participation.
