Law students from Queen Mary University of London were awarded their degrees at the graduation ceremony on 23 July 2018. The School is delighted with the results and wish the students the best of luck in their future.

Head of the Department of Law, Professor Valsamis Mitsilegas said:

"Congratulations to all our graduating students and thank you all for your valuable contribution to Queen Mary. We hope that you will stay in touch with the School of Law and continue to be an active part of our community."

Below are just a few stories from our outstanding graduates about their time at QMUL School of Law:

"I got a 1:1 in Global Law including a year abroad at the University of Texas. It has completely changed my life! The programme at QMUL and UT helped me decide that I wanted to do a masters in Texas and I am going back there to continue my studies in August.

The School of Law specifically helped me as I would have never got the opportunity in the first place to do the year abroad. Sheila (QMUL School of Law Student Support Officer and Undergraduate Administrator) helped me apply for it and gave me the support and guidance to get me there. Not only was I picked to go, but I also got to stay for an extra year in Texas which means that I was able to start my master’s modules early. I got both the two years abroad for free with QMUL SoL which has meant that I now get a scholarship for the masters at UT as I have already studied there.

I wouldn’t have been able to do it without Queen Mary but I defiantly wouldn’t have been able to do it without Sheila. She came to visit me whilst I was there and she took me out for dinner and gave me so much support and advice which she continues to do to this day."

"I am graduating with as a senior status law student with a 2:1. I’m doing an internship at the moment at an In-house department of an insurance firm with the hope that they will offer me a training contract at the end of it. My end goal is to go onto qualify as a solicitor.

My time at Queen Mary School of Law prepared me for my future as it was a very intense and through course which taught me to be disciplined when studying and working. I believe that Studying Law is a different way of thinking and the School of Law defiantly helped me get to where I want to be."

"I received a 1:1 honours degree in Law. I am going on to study my BTPC at City Law School.

The School of Law has prepared me very well for my next steps in my career. First of all Queen Mary School of Law has a great mooting community so they really do prepare you for the bar and you get to take part in competitions and join the mooting club. Also our tutorials are good because there are less people so you get to talk and get into the flow of things pretty easily.

The best thing about studying here are the teachers, and my friends of course. The campus is great as well, you get to hang out with friends and honestly… everything is great!"

"I am graduating with a 1:1 this year from QMUL School of Law. I’m so excited to go on to start my training contract with Baker Mckenzie Law Firm.

The School of Law programme was very intensive which definitely prepared me for starting a training contract. You need to be able to deal with a lot of pressure and stress and I think the Law School was able to give me the skills to cope with this!"
