Professor Rosa Lastra appointed Specialist Adviser to House of Lords inquiry

Professor Rosa Lastra, Sir John Lubbock Chair in Banking Law at Queen Mary’s Centre for Commercial Law Studies has been appointed Specialist Adviser to a House of Lords inquiry on the Quantitative Easing (QE) programme of the Bank of England. 

The Committee will examine Quantitative Easing in the context of the Bank of England’s operational independence, its accountability, and the transparency of its decision-making. 

The inquiry is being conducted by the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee (ECAM) chaired by Lord Forsyth of Drumlean. 

Professor Rosa Lastra is a world-leading expert on Banking and Finance Law. From November 2008 to June 2009, she acted as Specialist Adviser to the European Union Committee [Sub-Committee A] of the House of Lords regarding its Inquiry into EU Financial Regulation and responses to the financial crisis. She is a member of two expert panels of the European Parliament: the Monetary Panel since 2015 and the Banking Union (Resolution) Panel since 2016. 

 

Professor Rosa Lastra is also the Chair of the Institute of Banking and Finance Law the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS)
