The School of Law welcomed Professor Jonathan Griffiths as the new Head of the Department, with effect from the beginning of September 2022.
He succeeds Professor Penny Green who has been Head since September 2018. Under Penny’s leadership the Department has grown and thrived, despite the challenges presented by the Covid pandemic. With humanity and skill, she has guided the production of outstanding and innovative world class research and the delivery of critical, challenging yet deeply supportive education to our students. We thank her for her dedication to the role and wish her well as she returns to her research.
Our new Head of Department Jonathan Griffiths is Professor of Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary. Alongside colleagues, he will seek to continue Penny's great work and, in particular, will foster the impact of the Department's research, promote the outstanding work of our Legal Advice Centre and develop our undergraduate curriculum (for example, through the introduction of a new LLB Programme in Law with Climate Justice. We wish Jonathan every success in his new role and thank Penny for her outstanding contribution as Head of the Department.
