Between the 17-21 October, the Queen Mary Legal Advice Centre (QMLAC) welcomed two exchange students from the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago.
Sandhyaa Ramberran and Chelsea Nandlal are both post graduate student volunteers at their student law clinic who spent a week at the QMLAC to experience the Centre and its work and to share good practice with Queen Mary students undertaking clinical legal education.
During their visit our guests helped process enquiries at the Centre, attended client appointments and attended clinical teaching. They helped co-facilitate a session the QMLAC ran for Pathways to Law students (a Sutton Trust widening participation initiative). Their trip also provided an opportunity to visit some of London’s best legal landmarks alongside Queen Mary students such as The Supreme Court, the Royal Courts of Justice and the Inns of Court. Our exchange students were accompanied by two Attorney Tutors from the Legal Aid Clinic who shared best practice on teaching and learning with QMLAC staff.
We very much look forward to running a reciprocal visit in the next academic year and strengthening our ties with the Legal Aid Clinic at Hugh Wooding Law School.
