In July, Dr Alexis Alvarez-Nakagawa, Lecturer in Law and Institute Humanities and Social Sciences Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, delivered a keynote lecture on law, magic and performativity at the University of Bonn, Germany. The keynote was part of the University of Bonn's conference on Sacred Order: The Reliance of Ritual on Norms, the Emergence of Norms from Ritual, looking at what lies at the bottom of normative orders and what unites them, with the aim of discovering common grounds in social, moral, legal and liturgical norms as well as in norms from custom and etiquette.
