qLegal, dedicated to fostering innovation and supporting emerging legal minds, is delighted to announce the winners of the Law of the Future Competition 2024.
The competition was open to qLegal students and alumni interested in the intersection of law and innovation; offering them a platform to share their passion and demonstrate their captivating public speaking skills. Participants were required to record a 6-minute TED-style talk on how innovation in specific fields shapes the law of the future. Six finalists, along with their guests, attended the final pitch day and had the opportunity to network with professionals from both firms. Held at Ropes & Gray’s offices, the event commenced with an inspiring speech on the law of the future by Matthew Czyzyk, partner at Ropes & Gray. After hearing how the evolving nature of legal practice means lawyers need to harness the innovative tools available to them to offer greater value to clients, the six finalists were ready to present their speeches. The thought provoking topics spanned all aspects of law and innovation. Following thorough deliberation, the panel of judges from Ropes & Gray and Bloomberg—Aisha Arden, Mia Motiee, Sarvesh Chadha, and Safeena Choudhary—carefully evaluated each presentation based on originality, relevance, and delivery. The awards were then presented to the following speakers:
Reflecting on the event, Mia Motiee, Legal Counsel at Bloomberg, said “It was a pleasure to support qLegal and a future generation of lawyers. Each one of the participants presented compelling and interesting ideas in well-articulated and persuasive presentations."
Congratulations to all the winners on their remarkable achievements and well done to everyone who participated.
qLegal would like to thank the volunteers at Ropes & Gray and Bloomberg for supporting this initiative!
qLegal looks forward to next year’s competition and continuing to support and showcase the incredible talents within their community.
