Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your academic background?

I joined Queen Mary in September 2024. Prior to that, I held positions at Ankara University. My research endeavors revolve around two primary domains. Initially, I began my academic journey as a comparatist, specializing in comparative private law. Within this realm, my studies centered on comparative law, European contract and tort law, as well as unfair competition law. Subsequently, my research trajectory transitioned into the field of intellectual property (IP), in particular copyright law and patent law. My most recent research, ie PhD thesis, has been concentrated on the implications of 3D printing technology on copyright law.

What will you be teaching at Queen Mary? How does your teaching at Queen Mary relate to your past work?

I will be teaching two modules at QMUL: LAW6456 Intellectual Property-Industrial Property and LAW6455 Intellectual Property-Copyright and Related Rights. In my previous role at Ankara University, I acted as a program coordinator and taught in the Joint LLM in Intellectual Property Program which is conducted in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Aside from my teaching responsibilities at Ankara University, I also taught in the Online ‘Patent Law and Global Public Health - PatentX’ Course, which is jointly run by WIPO and Harvard Law School. Both programs have attracted students from across the world and they both tailored their curricula to suit the aspirations of a global audience. Navigating this multicultural landscape enriched my understanding of global perspectives on IP. It also enhanced my ability to adopt a comparative and international approach while teaching IP.
