He retired as Lord Justice of Appeal in 2013 after 20 years in the Commercial Court and the Court of Appeal. He is an arbitrator and mediator and has been appointed to the Cayman Islands Court of Appeal. He is Honorary Fellow of Queen Mary University of London and of New College, Oxford, Trustee of BIICL (British Institute of International and Comparative Law, President of Harvard Law School Association of the UK and Director of London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been Treasurer of the Inner Temple and President of BILA (British Insurance Law Association).
