What influenced your decision to choose a LLM at Queen Mary?

There were three the factors that influenced and determined my final decision to take an LLM course at QMUL: 1) London - being a post-graduate student in London is not only a great opportunity to meet people from around the world, but it is a unique experience that one should try; 2) Expertise - QMUL’s academic staff are known for having the highest level of experience and knowledge on the courses taught; 3) qLegal - through QMUL’s postgraduate law clinic (‘qLegal’), I was able to put my knowledge into practice, provide legal advice to clients and collaborate with top tier law firms.

How did you find the teaching and learning?

All the professors and tutors were closely involved with the students’ education, and eager to impart their knowledge. However, what I was most impressed with, was their high level of expertise and the fact that most of them had already been in practice: having knowledge of commercial practice, they were able to fully address any legal concerns.

What was key about your programme/ were there any highlights?

The teaching method did not consist only of attending courses, but also combined attendance at seminars and workshops, analysis of cases, and guest lecturers who could provide legal insight from practice, thereby keeping us up-to-date.

Did you combine modules across specialisations and if so, what were the advantages of this?

Yes, I combined lectures from the corporate/commercial specialisation, and corporate finance and M&As courses. This flexibility allowed me to form my LLM programme in such a way so it would not limit my job applications and help me succeed professionally in my country.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

Accept all new challenges, study hard and be open to all the networking opportunities that Queen Mary offers.

Has gaining a deeper understanding of your specialisation helped your career?

Yes; I was able to attend dream-job interviews and eventually to land a job at a desired law firm which specialises in banking, finance and capital markets matters.

What was your best experience of studying at Queen Mary?

The networking opportunities that one can exploit and enjoy.

Would you be willing to share your Testimonial? If so, you could help a prospective student to make an informed choice to study at Queen Mary. (Class of 2020 and 2021 only).
