What influenced your decision to choose a LLM at Queen Mary?

Almost since I finished law school, I decided that I wanted to focus my career on international sports arbitration. I realised that in order to meet that objective, besides studying sports law, I needed to complete my education with an LLM in international arbitration. After doing some research in the LLMs available on the market, it was clear to me that the one offered by Queen Mary was one, if not the most, well regarded programme worldwide.

How did you find the teaching and learning?

Definitely, the professors impressed me the most. They were all extremely professional and helpful and with a clear capacity to transfer the huge knowledge that they have in their area of expertise. Learning was also quite a smooth process. CANVAS is a user-friendly platform.

What was key about your programme/ were there any highlights?

All the tools that were available. Starting with the e-library all the way to all the e-journals and in particular, the access to the Kluwer Arbitration.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

To be prepared to study a lot and download the CANVAS app to your mobile.

Has gaining a deeper understanding of your specialisation helped your career?

The LLM gave me incredible tools, which made be one step ahead of my peers with sports law knowledge as I had gained the insights of international arbitration. I truly think that CCLS played a key role on the development of my career. Currently I am the Head of Sports Legal at the European Club Association. I am in charge of the legal services we provide to our more than 200 members, comprising the leading football clubs in Europe.

What was your best experience of studying at Queen Mary?

The day I finally submitted my dissertation. It gave me a huge sense of achievement and pride.
