What influenced your decision to choose a LLM at Queen Mary?

I had planned to apply to QMUL for my LLM since the second year of my Bachelor’s degree. Its leading reputation in postgraduate research and amazing staff make for an ideal choice. However, what ultimately convinced me was the special fast track (9 months) LLM program starting in January. This program offered flexibility, at a time when many of us were unsure about studying for a postgraduate degree.

How did you find the teaching and learning?

I found the quality of teaching outstanding. Our professors made online teaching feel so exciting and proactive.

What was key about your programme/ were there any highlights?

I really appreciated the research-focused approach of my LLM. As someone who prefers writing essays rather than sitting exams, I loved being able to attend courses that encouraged us to choose our own topics and write on matters we are passionate about.

Did you combine modules across specialisations and if so, what were the advantages of this?

Throughout my program, I also attended courses outside of the Public International Law specialisation. I am glad I did so because I had the chance to expand my knowledge on fields of law I had not previously encountered in my legal studies.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

My piece of advice to future students would be to make the best of their time at QMUL – make new friendships, interact with professors and overall enjoy all that the student experience at QMUL has to offer!

Has gaining a deeper understanding of your specialisation helped your career?

I have just started my professional career but I am confident that by finalising my LLM degree at QMUL, I have further gained expertise and solidified my background on Public International Law.

What was your best experience of studying at Queen Mary?

My best experience studying at QMUL was meeting new students from all around the world, as well as pushing my own limits. The accelerated degree was intensive but in the end, it feels great to have succeeded.
