Year of graduation: 2022Name of programme: Public International Law LLMCountry: Mexico
My name is Verónica Valles. I am from Mexico, and I am an LLM in Public International Law Candidate. I have eight years’ experience in constitutional, administrative and tax litigation back in my country and worked at Galicia Abogados for five years. The firm is widely recognised as one of the best law firms in Latin America and ranked as a leading law firm by Chambers & Partners (Band 1), Latin Lawyer and Who’s Who Legal. I decided to study at QMUL because, in my opinion, it is practically oriented. I knew I wanted to enhance my knowledge with the necessary skillset to apply what I learned in my masters in my practice.
Another reason I chose QMUL is that it offers the opportunity to combine modules across specialisations. Even though due to the pandemic, a variety of modules were cancelled, QMUL offered a full range of module combinations, which made the experience complete and rewarding. I decided to combine my course by choosing Human Rights and Tax Law modules, which have been quite enriching for my practice experience.
For future students studying at QMUL, I would strongly recommend they start their master process by checking all the modules in detail. The University’s website offers an excellent and intuitive platform to review the way of assessment and the content of each of the modules that a student can take. As a litigator, I can honestly say that the modules I have taken will enhance my practice. Without any doubt, I can say I am very pleased with the decision of choosing QMUL, as mentioned before, I have gained a deeper knowledge in my working field. But the main reason I have enjoyed my experience at QMUL, is because the University has offered me the opportunity to network with my teachers, classmates and experts in my field.
