Meeting of the (Revived) Criminal Justice Society

11 March 2015

Time: 1:15 - 2:00pm
Venue: Room G5, Law Building, Queen Mary University of London, Mile End Road, London E1 4NS

All students and staff of the School of Law at Queen Mary University of London are invited to a preliminary meeting to discuss the revival of the Criminal Justice Society. This ran successfully for several years as a society recognised by and receiving funding from the Students’ Union.

The Society organised visits to prisons and the criminal courts as well as ride-alongs with police patrol cars. Visiting speakers ranged from politicians to sex-workers, journalists and former offenders.

If you are interested in taking part in a revival of the Society, with activities to begin in the autumn, please come to Room G5 in the Law Building in Mile End at 1:15pm on Wednesday 11 March. It is intended, if there is sufficient support, to set up a working party to put together the paperwork for Student Union affiliation and recognition, and to organise events for the autumn term.

This is a student body, but Professor Seán McConville, who mentored in the past, will support activities until the Society is established. He will speak at the 11 March introductory meeting.
