The Queen Mary Players staged a production of the 1920s musical 'Mr Cinders' by Vivian Ellis and Richard Myers.
Whilst English at the East London College was first introduced as an evening class in 1905, formal teaching of drama began later in 1925 with the introduction of the School of Drama. Eventually the two subjects were combined at Queen Mary under the School of English and Drama.
Complementing the teaching of performance and for those studying other subjects but with an interest in the arts, there was a regular programme of performances put on by student dramatic societies and music societies. This included dramatic productions put together by the Queen Mary Players, 1979-2009, a group consisting of students alongside staff members.
